The Philadelphia Chapter was established in 2008 to promote women-led businesses in the vibrant Greater Philadelphia area and Mid-Atlantic region. Positioned midway between New York City and Washington, Greater Philadelphia is the 4th largest metropolitan region in the U.S., following only New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The region is home to many Fortune 500 companies and offers a competitive and cost efficient alternative for new businesses. Its 91 colleges and universities congregate around 300,000 students and continuously generate a large number of new patents and business ideas.
Several angels groups are active in Philadelphia, but the level of participation by women, either investing or receiving funding, is very low. The Philadelphia Chapter aims to foster women leadership in regional businesses and support women to develop investment skills to their full potential.
